The European Commission has approved an exception allowing Slovakia to restrict VAT deduction on cars that are also used for non-business purposes, effective no earlier than July 1, 2025. To implement the change, an amendment to the VAT Act will be required and is therefore expected later this year. The changes are not yet in force. The Slovak Republic is interested in limiting the amount of VAT deduction from passenger cars to only 50% of VAT.
